Trium Astral is announced in 1999

Design

Trium's Astral - one of few models from Trium featuring a more traditional candy bar design, the Trium Astral is heavy and little big handset at 132 x 49 x 29 mm and 149 grams. The incredible 262,144 colors display is so bright and colorful, and provide more real colors of pictures and 3D images. The display resolution 105 x 105 pixel is not very high but is normal for low class phone.

The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker.
Lacking LEDs of any kind, however, the display - combined with vibration and audible alerts - is the Astral's only way of notifying users of new messages and missed calls. This is common for all Trium handsets, requiring users to inconveniently have to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting rather than just glance at it.

Ergonomics

The Astral is comfortable to hold and lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Trium handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the comfortable center keys, make the phone easer to dial. Its keypad is as pleasing in use as its chassis is on the eyes: tactile feedback is excellent and all buttons are placed in a logical manner - quite a feat, considering Astral's knack for quirky keypads. And last, but not least, a four-way navigation buttons centered below the display.

Features

Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Trium Astral has to offer: there's also support for SMS, .and spacious phone book..

Performance

Audio quality on the Astral was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 900 mAh NI-MH battery is rated for 3 hours talk time or 150 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 135 minutes.

Availability

The Trium Astral is now available throughout Europe in some language version.

Conclusion

Trium Astral is a beautiful phone to hold and use, and it's quickly won our hearts. The typical Trium design flair is present in abundance, with all the requisite consumer features to back it up.But love doesn't notice such little flaws.
