Design
Having gained fresh wind in its sails over the course of the past year or so, Siemens has certainly made its mark on phone sale hit lists recently, the Siemens A60 is a very slender and compact handset at 110 x 47 x 23 mm and 85 grams. The 4096-color display is dim, not very bright and crisp, but is a far step above the very dim 256-color versions on even the most recent Siemens models.The display resolution 101 x 80 pixel is not very high but is normal for low class phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker.
Lacking LEDs of any kind, however, the display - combined with vibration and audible alerts - is the A60's only way of notifying users of new messages and missed calls. This is common for all Siemens handsets, requiring users to inconveniently have to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting rather than just glance at it.
Ergonomics
The A60 is comfortable to hold and lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Siemens handsets.The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary.Unfortunately, the keypad of the Siemens A60 emits excess noise, but on the bright side its keys have been comfortably spaced and sized. We're not entirely happy with the design of the navigational pad and its adjacent buttons, however, as distinguishing between these less easy than it ought to be.And last,but not least, a four-way navigation buttons centered below the display.

Performance
Audio quality on the A60 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 700 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 4 hours talk time or 250 hours standby, which is very good for battery's theoretical capacity.Charge time is about 105 minutes.

The Siemens A60 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Siemens's A60 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Siemens. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
