Sendo M550 is announced in 2003
Design
The Sendo M550 is a compact clamshell phone. Measures 82 x 45 x 20 mm in size and weighing 77 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.A secound 80 x 48 pixel, 2 display dominates the front cover, and although not the clearest external display we've seen it is still quite functional. The 4096-color display is dim, not very bright and crisp, but is a far step above the very dim 256-color versions on even the most recent Sendo models. The display resolution 128 x 128 pixel which is standart resolution for more mobile phones.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. Lacking LEDs of any kind, however, the display - combined with vibration and audible alerts - is the M550's only way of notifying users of new messages and missed calls. This is common for all Sendo handsets, requiring users to inconveniently have to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting rather than just glance at it.
Ergonomics
The M550 lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Sendo handsets. The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary. And last, but not least, a four-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Sendo M550 has to offer: there's also support for GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , 16-channels polyphony, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book..
Performance
Audio quality on the M550 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 700 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 5 hours talk time or 400 hours standby, which is very good for battery's theoretical capacity.Charge time is about 105 minutes.
Availability
The Sendo M550 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Sendo's M550 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Sendo. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
