Philips 530 is announced in 2003

Design

The latter quickly became immensely popular and also the manufacturer's flagship, but with the advent of the 530, Philips has finally entrenched itself as an important player in the market for experienced users, the Philips 530 is slender and not very compact handset at 98 x 44 x 18 mm and 104 grams. The 16 bit - color display which is a little milky, dim and uneven, as well as having lower resolution than usual. The display resolution 128 x 128 pixel which is standart resolution for more mobile phones.

The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker.
Lacking LEDs of any kind, however, the display - combined with vibration and audible alerts - is the 530's only way of notifying users of new messages and missed calls. This is common for all Philips handsets, requiring users to inconveniently have to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting rather than just glance at it.

Ergonomics

The 530 lies well in ones hand.A numerical keypad placed below offers appropriately-spaced keys and are pleasantly comfortable in use.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Philips handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary.Unfortunately, the keypad of the Philips 530 emits excess noise, but on the bright side its keys have been comfortably spaced and sized. We're not entirely happy with the design of the navigational pad and its adjacent buttons, however, as distinguishing between these less easy than it ought to be.And last, but not least, a five-way joystick centered below the display.

Features

Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Philips 530 has to offer: there's also support for GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , 32-channels polyphony, FAX/Modem, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of bluetooth high speed small range wireless device.GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book.

As previously mentioned, the 530 is also equipped with and when it comes to storage the 530 offers 1 MB which is dynamically shared between images and J2ME applications. The phone incidentally also offers up an integrated FM radio.

Performance

Audio quality on the 530 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 800 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 4 hours talk time or 150 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 120 minutes.

Availability

The Philips 530 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.

Conclusion

Philips 530 is a beautiful phone to hold and use, and it's quickly won our hearts. The typical Philips design flair is present in abundance, with all the requisite consumer features to back it up.But love doesn't notice such little flaws.
