Pantech G300 is announced in 2004
Design
The Pantech G300 is a compact clamshell phone. Measures 76 x 40 x 23 mm in size and weighing 80 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.A secound 64 x 48 pixel, 2 display dominates the front cover, and although not the clearest external display we've seen it is still quite functional.A perfectly adequate 65,000-color display is bright and crisp, and is a far step above the dim 4096-color versions on even the most recent Pantech models. The display resolution 128 x 128 pixel which is standart resolution for more mobile phones.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Pantech handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The G300 lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Pantech handsets. The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary. And last, but not least, a five-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Pantech G300 has to offer: there's also support for GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Java MIDP 2.0, 40-channels polyphony, a voice recorder, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book..
Performance
Audio quality on the G300 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 680 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 3 hours talk time or 150 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 102 minutes.
Availability
The Pantech G300 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Pantech's G300 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Pantech. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
