Design
Having gained fresh wind in its sails over the course of the past year or so, Ericsson has certainly made its mark on phone sale hit lists recently, the Ericsson R600 is a very slender and compact handset at 105 x 45 x 20 mm and 82 grams. The black and white display is ideal for text, messages and simple pictures like logos and picture massages.The display resolution 96 x 48 pixel is not very high but is normal for low class phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker.There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Ericsson handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The R600 lies well in ones hand.A numerical keypad placed below offers appropriately-spaced keys and are pleasantly comfortable in use.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Ericsson handsets.The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary.Unfortunately, the keypad of the Ericsson R600 emits excess noise, but on the bright side its keys have been comfortably spaced and sized. We're not entirely happy with the design of the navigational pad and its adjacent buttons, however, as distinguishing between these less easy than it ought to be.And last,but not least, a four-way navigation buttons centered below the display.

Performance
Audio quality on the R600 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 700 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 4 hours talk time or 150 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 105 minutes.

The Ericsson R600 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Ericsson's R600 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Ericsson. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
