 Alcatel OneTouch 525 is announced in 2002
Design
Having gained fresh wind in its sails over the course of the past year or so, Alcatel has certainly made its mark on phone sale hit lists recently, the Alcatel OneTouch 525 is a very slender and compact handset at 98 x 42 x 21 mm and 75 grams. The black and white display is ideal for text, messages and simple pictures like logos and picture massages.The display resolution 96 x 65 pixel is not very high but is normal for small phone like this.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker.
Lacking LEDs of any kind, however, the display - combined with vibration and audible alerts - is the OneTouch 525's only way of notifying users of new messages and missed calls. This is common for all Alcatel handsets, requiring users to inconveniently have to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting rather than just glance at it.
Ergonomics
The OneTouch 525 lies well in ones hand.A numerical keypad placed below offers appropriately-spaced keys and are pleasantly comfortable in use.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Alcatel handsets.The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary.Unfortunately, the keypad of the Alcatel OneTouch 525 emits excess noise, but on the bright side its keys have been comfortably spaced and sized. We're not entirely happy with the design of the navigational pad and its adjacent buttons, however, as distinguishing between these less easy than it ought to be.And last,but not least, a simple two-way navigation buttons centered below the display.

Audio quality on the OneTouch 525 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 600 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 6 hours talk time or 280 hours standby, which is very good for battery's theoretical capacity.Charge time is about 90 minutes.

The Alcatel OneTouch 525 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.

Alcatel's OneTouch 525 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Alcatel. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
